Dr. Tonya Coons is the Former Director of Gifted Education Bibb County Schools and consultant for  The Center, conducts workshops from Elementary to post-secondary schools on how the system has mis-identified academic giftedness in urban youth. Her work describes the signs and what to do as a parent, teacher or child advocate when re recognize students/children with above average academic gifts and holding the educational learning center accountable for the student/child moving toward reaching their full academic potential.
